Adrian Gantt- Managing Owner/Director of Softball Operations/Strength Coach
Adrian Gantt has many years of experience in coaching and instructing at the college level. She is a 1998 graduate of Catawba College, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in biology. Gantt earned a Master of Science Degree in exercise science at Appalachian State in 2000.
Gantt was a two-sport athlete at Catawba, playing four years of field hockey and softball. She was a two-time All-American in field hockey and twice earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors in softball. She received the Lomax Award for Catawba’s top senior female athlete in 1998.
At East Rowan High School, Gantt earned nine letters. She earned All-County and All-Conference honors in cross country and helped the softball team to a pair of state tournament appearances. Gantt and her husband, Jim, reside in Salisbury. Jim is the Catawba head baseball coach, and the Rowan County American Legion head baseball coach.
Garry Bakker- Pitching/Hitting Instructor
Garry Bakker is a 2001 graduate of Suffern High School in New York, where he was a 4 year varsity starter and an all-section selection in baseball and basketball. He was rated the # 1 baseball prospect in the state of New York by Baseball American 2001. He was drafted in the 24th round by the Seattle Mariners in 2001, where he decided to forgo professional baseball and accept a scholarship to play at UNC where he was a 3 year all- conference starter from 2002-2004. He was named mid-season freshman All-American by Baseball America in 2002. Garry also played 2 years in the Cape Cod collegiate summer league, where he was named the # 2 professional prospect in the league by Team One Baseball in 2003. He threw a complete game shutout in the 2004 ACC tournament, and also named to the 2004 ACC All- Tournament team.
He went on to be drafted in the 11th round by the Chicago White Sox. He played in the White Sox organization from 2004- 2007. He was a member of the 2005 Kannapolis Intimidators championship team. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 2008 Rule 5 Draft, where he played for one season for the Port St. Lucie Mets in the Florida State League. Garry currently resides in Kannapolis, NC with his wife Kerri and son, Knox.
